Library not finding all songs

I've got something on the order of 5000 songs, but WMP is only finding 1611
of them. I've tried deleting the database file as suggested in Mircrosoft's
help article, but it still only finds the same number. I've had my collection
on a different computer and WMP had no problems. The player will play the
files fine, but won't add them to the library consistently. Any thoughts?

When I go to Add to Library, no matter how many times I select the folders I
wish to add from, they disappear afterwards. I also made sure the file
associations were correct too.

Does anyone else have Winamp installed too?

Re: Library not finding all songs

I'm having the exact same problem as well and it's been going on for ages. I
tried looking for solutions and then gave up. I decided today that I would
give it another go.

i'm also having another problem which I'm not sure is related. When I go to
the Library Tab in Options and click configure sharing I don't get a dialogue
box; I get : windows media player, media sharing has been turned off
because a required windows setting or component has changed. for additional
assistance, click Web Help. options are: close or Web Help

I've installed a basic version of WinAmp

If anyone can help, I would be very grateful

For you, that should indicate the library is corrupt--

Re: Library not finding all songs

That absolutely indicates that your library is corrupt and must be reset--
http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#medialibrary

You will be unable to do anything with the library until you reset it,
sorry. =\

Re: Library not finding all songs

Well, I've done some virtual plumbing and searching through forums, and there
are LOADS of people with the same problem, with the constantly suggested fix
being, "Reset the library." Which I mentioned I already did.

Ok, all the stats
- XP
- WMP 11
- Monitoring personal folders (all songs are in a folder called "Music")
- Personal folder is also the rip folder
- Checked "add previously deleted files"
- When I manually start a media search, the number gets bigger on occasion
(just ran the search, it found and supposedly added 1825)
- Followed Microsoft's database reset directions, no cigar

Anyone up for an episode of House? :P

A: Did you try renaming the Folder or just deleting the database? It's
pretty key to *rename* the folder not just delete the database as otherwise
you do not reset the library cache.
B: If you drag and drop the folder on the player, does it find them all?

Re: Library not finding all songs

Hi,

I had the same problem (and still have it):
i have +-3000 musics on my computer, but when F3 searching with WMP, the search windows say: "found 1250 musics" in my "music" directory...

But, by dropping the "music" file on the WMP windows, yes, i managed to put my +-3000 musics in the WMP library... don't ask why ^^.

But, when i do a F3 search, i always find "1250" musics, although i have +- 3000 now in the library thanks to the drop i've done....

I can't understand!

One day, i have read on a forum some tip with the dos line prompt comand but i can't find it back on google... :(

I hope this will help if somebody got the same problem.

Edit: all those "go to mediaplayer file in applicationdata and erase the file wmbd..." doesn't work.
