From what I have found out,all major cities(not some exclusive corners of Delhi and Bombay) will have Reliance Bharat Broadband likely through ADSL by this time next year.
Speeds r expected to be atleast 256Kbps for 1k or less pm.
A local reliance executive even confirmed that both landline and dsl services would be active within the next 6-7 months even in Ghaziabad.
Waiting for that day to come...

    56 Kbps Netone(BSNL) dial-up
    D'load speed - about 3.1-3.2 KBps.
Cost: 10paise/min (Accountless, so naturally no caps or ne such thing), gets tagged with ur phone bill.
Downtime: 50-50 on that, I'ld say. If it starts smoothly, that's the way it stays, otherwise, well... Well, it's reliable that way

NO installation charges (well, u need a phone).

Just dial 172222, goto the Netone site, register ur account (with ur phone no. as the user id.), download the dialer. Ur through.

Of course this is available only in Chennai/TamilNadu far as I know. Don't know whether the "Accountless" service's been expanded or what. The number will change accordingly I believe (to 17xxxx depending on ur area).

Downtime:Irritatingly High, once every 1.5-2 days though lasts only a short while (but irritating if ur a mass downloader like me )
Download Limit & Upload Limit: None

    Recommended : No

    Isp:- Hathway Pune
    Connection:- 64Kbps , unlimited , shared
    Cost:- Rs.550 p/m + one month installation
    Average Speeds:- 8KB/s - 9KB/s

Godmode:- When Auth is down:- 18KB/s
Downtime:- 6% if calculate in 1 month.(Mainly due to power failures)
Recomended:- Well if your work is only browsing and chatting , go for it , dl or online gaming is no no else you have got a great amount of patience ! But the best part is unlimited speed. Customer care is hopeless, try to get the guys from system admin , they are more effective and helpful.

    WOW!
I feel bad even posting this after seeing your speeds in India. I went from a 2.5 Mbps cable connection($40/mo), to a 1.5 Mbps DSL connection($30/mo) and complained. Now I'm counting my blessings.

I won't even play an online game unless I get a ping uner 100.

I can't imagine trying to live with your speeds.

Why are your speeds so slow?
