information on Airtel pay per second plans

I have heard that Airtel customers will be charged 1 paise per second for any local and national calls within Airtel network and 1.20 paise per second for calls to other mobile networks. They have also mentioned that this plan is for all existing and new Prepaid customers across India. I was wondering if this plan is also available for postpaid customers? Also, if we are travelling nationally then will it cost the same rates or different rates? Thanks for any information.

I dont think that this plan is for Postpaid customers, it is only for people who are carrying Airtel prepaid sim cards. Also, if you are on roaming nationally then this 1 paise call to any other airtel mobile will not be applicable and you will be charged at the base tariffs which is local calls at Rs. 1 per minute and STD calls at Rs. 1.5 per minute. This plan also is limited to 1 year tariff validity. On the other hand many people have said that Airtel network is not good compared to other networks like Vodafone.

Although, Airtel had launched this Pay Per Second Plan which is also called "Freedom Plan" that seems to good to hear, but still the main disadvantage of this Pay Per Sec plan is that it is only on Home Networks which is really bad. If anyone wants to convert to this plan then charges are also very high, so all this promotion Airtel is doing is very bad. It could have been great success if Airtel made this plan in roaming as well in the same rates but it is not.

If we compare it with Tata Docomo's roaming SMS rate then it is the same like Rs. 0.60 for local call and Rs. 1.20 for STD calls in home network but a higher Rs. 1.50 per sms within India in most of the other operators which is a waste compared to the Rs. 0.50 per sms in home network and also roaming. However if you like to talk for long hours then you can go with the per minute plans of Airtel. The choice is upto you to make which one you should go for.
