    cannot ping the router, but am able to use the internet

    I am unable to ping the gateway 192.168.1.1 but can connect the router to the internet and use it. I am unable to get the router admin page, from the browser. the connection shows the gateway at 192.168.1.1 and DHCP as well. I can connect more than one device to the router and get ipaddresses from the builtin DHCP. I have also reset the router many times with the switch at the back. Please help.

    Can you try to go to Control Panel and then Network Connection and then Local Area Connection. Now click on the support tab and ensure that the loca gateway is 192.168.1.1 for sure.

    Yes the gateway clearly shows 192.168.1.1, which is the router's ipaddress

    primary dns 192.168.1.1
    it also gives me a broadcast address of 192.168.1.255
    subnet mask 255.255.255.0

    The issue can be due to firewall. It might be blocking the incoming request. You have to ensure that ICMP is allowed so that you can get ping back from the router. Your antivirus might alos be causing the same issue. So just disable the firewall and antivirus for sometime and then check back. If this does not work then type ipconfig /renew in cmd and test back.
