Unlock Airtel 3G USB Modem E1731 Datacard

Can anyone tell me how to unlock Airtel 3G USB Modem E1731 Datacard. One of my friend gave it to me since he was not using it. Since I want to use Huawei so therefore was requiring any tips that can be used to do it. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

To unlock the Airtel E173 you will require the E173 Firmware which is called E173Update_11.126.85.00.209_B427.zip and also the Universal master code (Universal_MasterCode.exe) that can be downloaded by searching on google. After downloading it follow the below steps to unlock the airtel usb modem:

1. You will need to generate unlock and flash code by using the Universal Master code Calculator or else there are online website as well by using some online code calculator.
2. After that you have to plug that device to your computer and then run E173Update_11.126.85.00.114_B427.exe, it will be able to find the modem automatically that you are using.
3. After some time, the installation process starts and you will come across another screen. Here you will be asked to give the flash code or unlock code as your password.
4. Just put the password that you generated from the Universal Master code calculator and then the software will be updated properly.

If you are not able to generate flash code and unlock code, then download some application provided by DCUnlockerSoftware. You might need to find the procedure on the modemunlock website. The flash code is usually required when you are updating the firmware. At the time of updating firmware, a password is needed and thats when the flash code should be used. You might also get error message with the Airtel Software, incase you pop in a Sim from another provider, so to unlock modem, you can use Huawei Code Writer software. Hope this helps.

If the above doesnt work, then download the latest version of Huawei Modem, that is normally called Mobile Partner and install it. After it is done, you will see a option that might be asking you for unlocking code, simply enter the code and your modem will be unlocked. To download, google for "huawei e1731cs-1". After that go to a website called mymodem and download it and then save it to your computer. You need to extract the drivers and then install the new version called "UTPS23.001.07.06.910_LNX23.zip".
