What is a Primary DNS ip address for BSNL Broadband Connection

Hi all,

I want to know that what is a Primary DNS ip address for BSNL Broadband Connection? Actually i have a problem of DNS related to Broadband Connection. My downloading speed is affected by DNS. So i want to know the correct DNS address of BSNL. Any idea??

In the Internet Protocol Properties window, you will have two options on top
1. Obtain IP address automatically
2. Use the following IP address.
Click on Use the following IP address Radio Button,
Type the following

IP Address 192.168.1.x (The last coloumn "x" can be any thing between 3 and 253)

and click inside Subnet mask textbox and it will automatically give 255.255.255.0

Default gateway 192.168.1.1

Click on Use the following DNS Server addresses Radio Button.Type the following:

Preferred DNS server :218.248.240.23
Alternate DNS server: 192.168.1.1

You need to click on Start button > Run > and Type command cmd > Press enter key. At DOS prompt type the command:

C:\>ipconfig /all

you need to do the following process for finding DNS:

• You can Click on Start button > Settings > Network connections
• Double click on Local Area Connection
• Click on Properties button
• Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
• Click on Properties button and Look for Preferred DNS Server

You can also check with that resolve this problem you need to modify your connection settings. To do this for follow these steps:
# First open Internet Explorer and click on Tools and Internet options.
# Go on the internet options window click on the Connection tab.
# In Dial-up or Virtual Private Network settings, Click on Dataone or BSNL and click the Settings button.
# And click on the Advanced button and uncheck Disconnect if Idle for 20 minutes and click OK.

You need to open the internet explorer. Click on Tools in Menu Bar. Click on Internet Options.. Click on Connections Tab. Check whether Never dial a connection Radio Button is selected. Click on LAN Settings. In the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings window, Check whether there is a tick mark in the Use a Proxy Server for your LAN. If there is a check mark, Click on the check box and take off the tick mark. Click on OK Button. This may resolve your issue.

You need to change the DNS role of your system. First click Start, tip to Administrative Tools, and then click DNS. Increase ServerName, where ServerName is the name of the server. increase Forward Lookup Zones. Get Right-click the Microsoft.edu zone, and then click Properties. Click the General tab. Click Change, and then click Primary zone. If the DNS server is a domain controller, click to select the Store the zone in Active Directory (available only if DNS server is a domain controller check box and Click OK. If you desire to permit dynamic updates, click Nonsecure and secure in the dynamic updates box. Click OK.

Use 4.2.2.2. It is universal (global) DNS. If u dont know the dns than u can use this it will work. I think this is provided by IANA (internet assigned numbers authority)
