How much bandwidth do i need for skype video chat

Hi friends

I am planning to open skype account for make video calls and on other country. But in India internet speed is very slow compare to foreign countries. i want to know how much bandwidth do i need for skype video chat ? so that i can take internet plan accordingly.

If you want to make video call you can use google Talk and yahoo Messenger. it's a free service available. you can also make PC to PC free calls using google Talk and yahoo Messenger. Still you want to use skype then for that you will require 1 mbps connection.

You can use Skype when you are connected with a 33.6 Kbps modem or faster. However, when you are using a modem for other types of internet traffic, such as web surfing, file sharing or email you may experience disruptions in the voice communication.

I will requires 128 kilobits/second (Kbs) upload and 256 download speeds. An upload speed of 128 Kbs may result in adequate or even good performance, but not the ultimate video performance. If you have 128 kbs of upload speed you will be using about 32 kbs for voice. That leaves a measly 96 kbs for video.
