why net connection is disconnected when the receiver is taken from the hook

hi friends !

i use BSNL broadband.. purchased type II modem...

net speed 256 kbps...

i use the same line for voice calls also...

When i'm browsing net, if i receive any voice calls ( phone receiver ) , the net is disconnected...

Why this happens,?? {{Some said that using type II modem, we can browse net and make voice calls simultaneously..}}


Modem model :nokia siemens networks residential router 1600
splitter - 16 khz

The problem mainly lies with the service provider. You will have to activate call waiting on your dialer so that when the system is using internet the call must not disconnect the service. Contact to the bsnl people and activate call waiting. Because whenever some one calls you the phone directly disconnects the internet and forwards the voice call.
