Vodafone decrease international roaming rates by 85%

Vodafone Essar is the official partner to IPL 2009, which starts on April 18, and the scheme is valid till May 30, 2009.

GSM major Vodafone Essar has reduced its international roaming rates on postpaid services for subscribers traveling to South Africa for the IPL cricket tourna-ment.

All local incoming calls will be charged at Rs 12.5/min and SMS would be charged at Rs 5/SMS, which are special discounted rates during the tournament. Special benefits would be extended to GPRS users who get 85 per cent discount on the data usage with a minimal charge of 90 paise per 10kb of data usage.

The company has entered into an agreement with South African mobile services provider Vodacom (a joint venture partner of UK-based Vodafone Group), to offer these special rates, Vodafone Essar said in a release issued here today.
