Unable to configure wireless router in hathway

hello,
I have a hathway 256kb plan, I bought a linksys wrt54g wireless router to share internet connection with my dell Laptop. when i try to set same settings in my router. I get a error message which stops me from even saving the settings to router. it works absolutely fine when i have direct connection to PC.

IP : 116.72.29.113
Gateway : 116.72.16.5
Subnet : 255.255.252.0

set the router to fixed/static ip & enable dhcp on it. for now, dont set wep or any other protection. let it be unsecured. we can secure it later. on your laptop in connection settings say use DHCP. reboot hathway modem, 43g and your machine

My problem is solved. i called hathway customer care and they asked me to set my subnet mask 255.255.240.0.

Everything is fine now

Hi,

Details are as follows:

ISP: Hathway Mumbai
Wireless Router: Cisco Linksys WRH54G
I am using DHCP - AUTO (i.e. not static ip or PPPOe) as this was suggested to me by Hathway person.

Rest i am using default settings of the router. In case you can suggest me proper settings for each and every tab on the settings of this router that will be very helpful.
