Sun Direct launches DTH service in Delhi
The Sun Group company is targeting three million subscribers by the end of this fiscal. "Almost 99 per cent of our subscriber base is from the South. In September, we launched our service in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana," says Sun Direct chief operating officer Tony D'Silva.
Sun Direct will be launching in other parts of the country by the end of next month but Mumbai will happen later, D'Silva adds.
"We are able to garner so many subscribers in such a short span of time because of the price proposition we offer," says D'Silva.
Sun Direct is a 80:20 joint venture between the Maran family and Malysia-based Astro Group.
Sun Direct offers a basic package of over 130 channels for a reasonable introductory price of Rs.999 (10 months subscription) along with free dish and set-top-box and Rs.1,000 towards installation charges.
Sun Direct offers 130 channels and has the capacity to pack in 155 channels from the seven Ku-band transponders it has on Insat 4B.
