In Pune BSNL services hit as 1,000 lines go dead due to the cable theft.
ore than 1,000 BSNL telephone connections have gone dead in Khadki, Dapodi, Wakdewadi and Pashan road areas as the underground cables have either been stolen or damaged due to road construction activities. Cable theft has resulted in more than 1,000 lines of BSNL going dead in the areas of Khadki, Dapodi, Wakdewadi and Pashan Road in Pune circle.
According to BSNL, repeated cases of cable thefts have been registered in Khadki and Dapodi areas. The cases of thefts have not reduced even after complaints have been registered with the police. The lines have been disrupted for the last one week.
Officials say that if not cable theft than the digging up of the roads may be the cause of the problem.
While BSNL has assured its subscribers that the services will be restored soon, it has at the same time appealed to its subscribers to report any cable theft in their areas.
