Aksh Optifibre, Sony pictures sign deal for IPTV content

Aksh Optifibre Ltd has signed a three-year content deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment.

As per the deal, Sony Pictures will provide Hollywood content for Aksh's IPTV service, icontrol.

"This is the first agreement to bring Hollywood content on the regular television viewing with freedom to watch movie content at any given point," Aksh says in a statement.

icontrol is a television connection allowing viewers to control television programmes as per their convenience with more than 130 channels, and value added services like video-on-demand.

Aksh provides IPTV services on the BSNL network in 20 cities across the northern region of India. These include cities spanning Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and UP (West).

Aksh also offers IPTV services on the MTNL network in Delhi and Mumbai.
