My broadband provider is lier

I went onto my internet providers site this evening and did a speed test. The results showed i should be able to have 4mb download speed but currently my download speed is around 59.88kbs - so how come is way below the download speed i should be getting.

I was getting a download speed of 60 kbps max. ever since i got the broadband service to work. I went to the broadband providers office to check whats my actual download speed should be. But they didn't entertain me much. I then went to the broadband providers site itself and did a speedtest there and was shocked to know from the results that the download speed i get should be atleast 2MB

Did you run speedtest on your pc as well? What did you use to test your speed?

When we get connection for internet from certain ISP, what we see on the package is that "Get up to **mb of speed". Note 'Get up to' in that. This is where they mean to give lesser speed than what is mentioned

ISP's are free to do whatever they intend. Theres nothing much we can do to avoid that instead of changing the ISP itself . Some ISP's are good enough and stick to their promises but most others are a Bunch of liers

People also get confused sometimes with the small 'b' and the big 'B' (not amitabh ). 'B' is meant for 'Bytes' and 'b' is meant for 'bits', and 1 Byte equals 8 bits.
