Airtel settings for your deskstop while using Mobile as modem.

    • Goto “Start–>Control Panel”
    • Click on “Network & Internet Connections”
    • Under header “Pick a task” click on “Create a connection to the network at your workspace”.
    • Now you will get “New Connection Wizard dialog box, select “Dial-up connection” & click next.
    • Dialog will ask for “Connection Name”, give whatever you would like to. I had given “airtelgprs”.
    • It asks for “Phone Number”, enter number as “*99***1#”
    • If you want select to put a shortcut on desktop (Preferred) & finish setup.

Now you will see a shortcut saying “airtelgprs” (In my case) on desktop. Make sure you installed your phone drivers & connect your phone. Double click the icon on desktop, leave blank “User name” & “Password” fields & click “Dial”. One message will pop-up to confirm its connected. Following are few points to check if not connected:

    • Check whether modem drivers for your phone are installed. Normally this will come with your phone’s PC Suite. Installing PC Suite will install all required drivers.
    • Check whether your phone could be used as modem or not.
    • You need to activate “Mobile Office” service of Airtel to connect. Other services like “Airtel Live” & “NOP/Airtel Online” will not work for this connection.
    • If you are getting message “Modem not responded”, try restart your mobile & reconnect it.

    Re: Airtel GPRS Settings

    Hi,
I have a ASUS P-527. I've followed all steps to activate gprs and mobilke office on prepaid Airtel. But have been unable to obtain manual settings from Airtel due abysmal customer care service. can someone help here? I need APN, port number, phone number to call etc. My phone runs on Windows Mobile 6.1. and has GPRS capability.

    Hi vivkaps

Assuming that Mobile Office is activated on your number ,you just need to create a internet profile in your phone and enter the APN as airtelgprs.com. Turn off the proxy. You don't need to provide the proxy ip or port.

Hope this will help. And yes i agree Airtel customer support is the most lousiest. They suck

    Re: Airtel GPRS Settings

    Hi Users,
I'm facing problem in accessing Airtel GPRS (POSTPAID) on a dual sim China mobile (I6 Pro). I purchased an Aircel (PREPAID) card and got GPRS configured and is working - though it is verrrrryyyyyy slooowwww. However, when i tried the same with airtel, its not working.
    Airtel told me to configure
    Account name : mobileoffice
    APN : airtelgprs.com
    ProxyIP: 202.056.231.117
    Proxy port no : 9201
    username / passwd : <blank>
    Authorisation : normal
    connect type: http
    security : off

Somewhat similar settings are for aircel, except name changes for aircel (instead of airtel)

Now, in my cell, there it asks for Primary and secondary DNS.
In Airtel, I left it blank (as it was in Aircel), but it is not connecting...

I'm trying to browse in the mobile itself (not connecting it to any PC).

    Can someone please help....

    warm regards...bobby

    Re: Airtel GPRS Settings

I am providing you settings of my phone. Try this out. This works in my china phone. At first in Homepage put any page. Leave the username and passwrod as blank and enable proxy. Then add 202.56.231.117 to the proxy server address and 8080 for Proxy and Server Port. For the Data bearer put GPRS or Packet Data. Add airtelgprs.com to the access point and set normal authentication. Put no for user preferred access point.
