Microsoft Lifecam VX-1000 problems

I purchased (2) Microsoft Lifecam VX-1000's one for my daughters XP SP2 and my Home Vista Premium x32. It says it is Vista compatible, etc. When trying to use Skype the audio works fine on both and the video works on the XP laptop when she is talking to others but the Vista laptop only gets a black screen both on mine and hers plus I can not see her on the Vista - no video either way.
I have uninstalled and re-installed the Webcam SW and downloaded the latest drivers. I've checked the settings over and over and it should work but doesn't. Can there be a setting I will need to change in Vista ? I have Media Center also but don't use could this be the problem ? Sometimes when it boots up it says "another program is attempting to use". Could the Norton Firewall be the bad guy ? I went into the Interent worm program section and allowed Skype already.

Drivers are available from Microsoft for LifeCams. See this link:

I have downloaded the latest driver from Microsoft for the Lifecam VX-1000 just after I installed it.

I'm not sure if this would effect anything or not but I have loaded the Live Messenger program - however I haven't installed it or activated it yet. I wanted to use the webcam on Skype. Do I need to install the Live Messenger Application to make the camera work ?

Once you have installed and see the camera works, it will be ready too for such applications. Just install the Skpye application.
