Webcam

I have a logitech quickcam express that I've had for about 6 years, never had any trouble until about the last month, all of a sudden the cam stopped working and windows(XP) wont recognize it no matter what i do. When I plug it in I get a message saying "USB Device Not Recognized". I've reinstalled software, drivers etc. I tried the webcam on my laptop and have the same problem. This lead me to beleive its not a logitech problem. I then tried my Microsoft cam (from my Xbox 360) and this no longer will work on my laptop or my desktop. This means that both cameras stopped working at the same time on both my computers. The only thing I can think of is a windows update. Anyone have any trouble with there logitech cam after a recent windows update and if so how did they fix it? I've tried the latest drivers. Windows is completely up to date with all available updates. This is really bugging me since this is the first computer problem I haven't been able to come up with a solution to on my own. (Bachelors in computer science, pursuing masters in computer science, building computers since i was 12, do computer repair work on the side, yeah i'm a computer geek...)

either the usb ports has gone bad or the cam for sure.
might be a virus problem as well, have you scanned with some anti-virus softwares?

The USB ports are fine, anything else I plug into them works correctly (flash drives, hard drive, keyboard and mouse). Not to mention I have the same problem on my desktop and laptop starting at the same time makes it very unlikely that its the USB drives. I run norton anti-virus and it is always kept up to date with a complete system scan done oncen a week.
