    Clean Video Game Cartridges

The old video game console uses game cartridges in order to play game. If any new game comes to the market for the console it was published and marketed as cartridge like system. Some of you might still have collection of those. There are several videos on Youtube and some other sites which were showing how to clean the game cartridges. What my thinking is, is it safe to clean those cartridges? Do you have any suggestions over cleaning to those things?

When you have visual artifacts and / or audio, it is usually because of a layer of oxide on the contacts to avoid this, every time you buy a cartridge I suggest you clean with the eraser to remove the print cartridge contacts very carefully, up to polishing the contacts! Do not use solvents or alcohol, only the eraser! This procedure I use it on cartuccioni NeoGeo cartridges for MD of doing more attention because sweeping is minimal

The game cartridges are often dusty, dirty and especially oxidized. Oxidation caused most often by everyone, every time you do well and thinks that you blow on the connectors. The moisture generated mixed with oxygen produces a phenomenon of oxidation on the copper connectors, the same oxidation reduced connectivity between the slot of the console and the connectors of the cartridge. Engage a cartridge in a slot oxidized saint only aggravates the problems since transmits the oxidation of the cartridge slot on the console.

Moisten a cotton swab with alcohol at 90 pure. As usual, it does not sink. It is everything and its opposite on the web about products. Some advocate alcohol at 90, other than 70, a mixture of other water-based and alcohol, etc. alcohol will leave more residue but less than dirt. Experiment and choose what you convent best. In one case as in the other, do not put the liquid on the green parts of the circuit, after cleaning and dry with a soft cloth for example. Rub the cotton swab, following the tracks, or by having them all in one motion. In one case as in the other, the swab will become dark gray. Repeat until no more color change, it will mean that alcohol has done its job.

The Good way of cleaning allows your cartridges and especially your console cartridge port to function better and last longer. Very important for an NES, it remains only valid for the SNES, though the game starts, each new acquisition cleaned before use to avoid soiling the cartridge port. And the hull is more pleasant to see.

The only thing you do is push the problem a little later + increased oxidation. Remember that the human breath is charged at 70% moisture and it does not stop at simple contacts, it goes everywhere. So cotton swab alcohol + 70. Results: 40/40 passing game the first time. If they do not always pass it will open your games and check the components and circuit status

No worries with the alcohol. Moreover, it is used for cleaning wafers after ferric chloride baths. There is no varnish on contacts (obviously) and it's not alcohol that you manage to screw up copper or damage of your contacts. Do not clean with alcohol; I guess that's the label and the plastic cartridges, which they might react. Otherwise, with cotton or a cotton swab, clean the contacts, it's perfect. Do not even pay when three liters of the cartridge and do not worry, there's no worries. If you do not use alcohol, you can also use the solvent.
