Seagate ST4000DM000 4TB hard drive with 1TB per platter Launched
Nearly two years after announcing its first hard drive trays with a capacity of 1 TB, Seagate announced the arrival of a new hard drive with 4TB on the market, with 4 trays. A product advertised at a relatively affordable price considering the novelty.
After the Barracuda XT 3TB three trays launched in 2011, Seagate shows a notch with the Barracuda 7200.15, which in turn has four trays of 1TB each. This 3.5-inch hard drive running at 7200 rpm has an interface of Sata 3 (6Gbps), 64 MB cache for a theoretical average throughput of 146 MB/s.
Seagate Barracuda 7200.15 consumes about 35% less energy than another hard drive to 4TB, a situation that can be explained by the fact that the device has at least "look" 4 trays of 1 instead of 5 to 800 GB, which also implies that the processing is faster.
This 3.5-inch hard drive will soon be launched on the market at a price of $190 bare.
