Dell Optiplex 755 Tower (Mini-Tower) video card Upgrading options ?

I have been using Dell Optiplex 755 Tower- Mini-Tower which is having the below specification:
    Number of Bays
    • 2 internal 3.5", 1 external 3.5", 2 external 5.25"

    Dimensions
    • H: 16.10" W: 7.36" D: 17.52"
    • H: 40.89cm W: 18.69cm D: 44.50cm

    Slots
    • 2 full height PCI
    • -(H: 4.2" X L: 11")
    • 1 PCIe x16 full height graphics,
    • -(H: 4.2" X L: 9")
    • 1 PCIe x1 full height
    • -(H: 4.2" X L: 9")

    Power Supply
    • 305W

Actually I have bought the same for playing games and I am willing to upgrade to the best video card, I have been checking out for the same and have found that the 5670 has been recommended by a no of people but then I have found that the cards having PCI-Express 2.1 has many issues, I mean that I have just checked out the review of the same on some sites and I am not very sure about the same, so is there anyone who can clear my doubt with the 5670 or suggest me some more better card for building a gaming rig? I really need to find this out soon as I have already waited long for the upgrade. Any help regarding this will be highly appreciated.

I think that “Radeon HD 5670 PCI-Express Video Graphics Card” is really a good choice and I don’t think that you should face any issues with the same but then since you are having a Mini-Tower I will suggest you to better make sure that there is enough space inside the system there are possibilities that the Graphics card can be bigger for the Mini-Tower and won’t fit well. If you will go for some other high end card then you will have to upgrade the psu as well but then if you are staying with HD 5670 then the Dell optiplex 755 mini tower should not have any issues in handling it, you will just have to check out for the availability of the card.

I think that a “ASUS EAH6670/DIS/1GD5 Radeon HD 6670 GDDR5 1 GB Video Card” will be a better choice in your case as compared to the “Radeon HD 5670 PCI-Express Video Graphics Card”, you can just go through the specification of the EAH6670/DIS/1GD5:
    • Graphics Engine - AMD Radeon HD 6670
    • Video Memory-GDDR5 1GB
    • Engine Clock-810 MHz
    • Memory Clock-4 GHz ( 1 GHz GDDR5 )
    • Memory Interface-128-bit
    • Resolution-DVI Max Resolution : 2560x1600
    • Interface
    • D-Sub Output : Yes x 1 (via DVI to D-Sub adaptor x 1)
    • DVI Output : Yes x 1 (DVI-I)
    • HDMI Output : Yes x 1
    • Display Port : Yes x 1 (Regular DP)
    • HDCP Support : Yes
    • Accessories-1 x DVI to D-Sub adaptor
    • Software-ASUS Utilities & Driver
    • ASUS Features-Super Alloy Power
    • Dimensions-6.6 " x 4.6 " Inch

It comes with a Super Alloy Power technology for a 15% performance boost and it has a Dust-proof fan which will help in reducing the heat and will also extends the lifespan of the card by 25%, this will also help in extending visual horizon across three displays so as to deliver a better engaging entertainment, I really think that this will be the best choice for you. You can get it on amazon easily for $89.98 approximately.

Hey you can check out the “Asus ATI Radeon HD6450 Silence 1 GB DDR3 VGA/DVI/HDMI Low Profile PCI-Express Video Card - EAH6450 SILENT/DI/1GD3(LP)” I think that it is one of the best card for the Dell Optiplex 755 Mini Tower and you won’t have to worry about upgrading the psu as well as 305W of power supply is enough for the same, you can go through a short specification of the same:
    • Chipset: Radeon HD6450
    • Engine Clock: 625 MHz
    • Video Memory: 1GB DDR3
    • Memory Clock: 1200 MHz (DDR3 600 MHz)
    • Memory Interface: 64-bit
    • Bus: PCI-Express 2.1 x16
    • RAMDAC: 400 MHz
    • Max. Resolution: 2560x1600
    • Connectors: VGA, DVI, HDMI
    • Thermal: Fanless
    • Support Microsoft Windows 7
    • Support AMD HD3D Technology
    • Support Splendid Video Intelligence Technology
    • Support HDCP - High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection
    • Support Microsoft DirectX 11
    • Low Profile Design

Re: Dell Optiplex 755 Tower (Mini-Tower) video card Upgrading options ?

    I have checked out for the same and other than the ones that has been mentioned above you can also consider the below ones as well;
    • 256MB ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO with DVI and TV Out
    • 256MB ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT Dual Monitor with VGA cable and TV Out
    • 256MB ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT Dual Monitor with DVI and VGA cables and TV Out

But then as already mentioned above I think that going with a Low Profile video card will be a better choice probably a GALAXY GeForce 9500GT, below are the
Key Features of GALAXY GeForce 9500GT:
    • NVIDIA unified architecture with GigaThread technology
    • Full Microsoft DirectX 10 Shader Model 4.0 support
    • NVIDIA SLI-Ready
    • 16x full-screen anti-aliasing
    • True 128-bit floating point high dynamic-range (HDR) lighting
    • NVIDIA Quantum Effects physics processing technology
    • Dual-link DVI outputs support 2560x1600 resolution displays
    • NVIDIA PureVideo HD technology
    • PCI Express 2.0 support
    • OpenGL 2.1 support
    • Built for Microsoft Windows Vista
    • NVIDIA ForceWare Unified Driver Architecture (UDA)
    • HDCP Capable

Re: Dell Optiplex 755 Tower (Mini-Tower) video card Upgrading options ?

I think that a Galaxy 9800GT Low Power will be a better choice as compared to the “GALAXY GeForce 9500GT” it is having almost the same specification but then the difference between them is that the Galaxy 9800GT is dual link HDCP Capable and it is having support for 1080p display as well, I will like o inform you that you can check out the below three choices:
    • Galaxy standard 9800GT
    • Galaxy 9800GT HDMI 1GB
    • Galaxy 9800GT Low Power

I have found that the Galaxy 9800GT Low Power is an improved version over 9800GT and it is the best card for the system that does not have 6/8-pin PCI-E power cable, it comes with a improved cooler, I mean with a dual PCI slots cooler for better cooling performance, it has two built in connectors as it supports dual monitors but then it is having a DVI + an Analog for better market fulfillment., it comes with a PCI-E 2.0 standard (500MB/s) which is quite faster as compared to PCI-E 1.0 standard (250MB/s)., it even supports SLI but then not Quad SLI and only 2-way SLI, just check it out and I am sure that you will find it better as well.
