Lenovo ThinkStation S20: How to add asset tag in BIOS

I want to ask that if there is some utility available with the help of which I can update the asset number within the BIOS? I got the one for the Thinkpad laptops but failed to get for the thinkstation s20. If somebody over here can provide me some helpful suggestion for this then I will really appreciate that.

I am not very much sure about this but of you want then you can also try with the ISO version of the BIOS updater. In some of the cases this helped and so I hope that it will do the same for you as well.

I have already updated the BIOS to the latest version of that but the problem is that I am not able to select the asset tag field. One thing that I am not getting is that why they released the tool for the thinkpad products and not just the thinkstation.

There is one setting in the winphlash utility so that you can make use of the asset tag. For this, you will just have to open the winphlash utility and there select the Flags tag. In the dropdown list of the update mode, select “Update the BIOs and not DMI”. Now in the dropdown list select Chassis. Now go to the DMI tab select the checkbox for below three options:
    • Verify BIOS part number
    • Verify BIOS Checksum
    • Verify block after programming

There is just one simple thing that you need to do for this and for this you will just have to place the asset tag within the "serial number" field and after that alter the “Update the bios and preserve DMI". This is the only thing that you need to do for this and it will be done.
