No stable connection between HP T5745 thin Client and RDS 2008 R2

Just got new HP T5745 thin clients with HP Thinpro Linux pre-installed. The problem is I am not able to maintain the stable connection to a 2008 R2 RDS farm. Sometimes they won’t connect at all. If I remove them from farm and configure RDP client directly to IP of the RDS session hosts, it works fine but there is no load balance. How can I get this work? Do you think that it is the problem with T5745 which is not able to deal with 2008 R2 RDS server session brokers? Any help?

2 years ago I had the same problem with HP t5545 thin clients. At that time I have contacted the HP but they didn’t respond. For that reason we replaced 48 thin clients and brought new one. Now these new pieces are working fine.

As far as I know that most of may be all Linux OS' use the RDesktop RDP client. If I look into specs of these thin clients, they are very old which is based on RDP 4.0 and 5.0 protocol. Now there is a new open source project called FreeRDP which is replacing the RDesktop client. “FreeRDP 1.0" will make full RDP 7.1 client for Linux/Mac and Windows.

It seems to me that you are getting problem with the particular bug and load balanced farm was part of it. I am really not sure about this. It is very sad thing that HP didn’t fix the issue yet and these thing clients have been in the use for last 2 years though. As someone said other than replacing these old clients, there is no other option left for you. Otherwise you might switch back to the older RDS

I have tried to install freerdp on the thinpro OS but I cannot install it on 1 GB flash size which is too small. So for that I have to put 4gb USB thumb drive and install Ubuntu 10.04LTS on that drive. I also I have to install the VIA (vx900) display driver. After the GIT'ed freerdp 0.8.2, it can able to connect 2008 R2 server.
