Color mixed up when printing from Epson stylus photo R220

From the past 5 years I am printing phone using the Epson stylus photo r220 printer only. But from the past few days I am seeing that the printing of pictures are not original and Color seems mixed up. The ink level is normal and it is more than enough to print 50 more pictures. Do you have any ideas?

It’s a problem for all Epson printer’s cleaning nozzles and Stylus Photo series Rxxx (Old Series), the problem is unsolvable even if spending more than it costs new. If you want to use to make cleaning, it continues wasting ink even if you use the appropriate solvent.

This Epson printer as many has problems with print head but not the cartridge. I'll say this with the several years of experience of managing a business / computer lab where they back a lot of Epson printers with that problem. All problems mostly with the heads. The cartridges have nothing to do so much so that even if the original mantises would derive no benefit. To solve the issue you need to clean the heads after a few prints and again.

First of all download the “SSC Service Utility”. First in the configuration tab put your printer type, and then close the program. Now the software is running on taskbar with the little logo of a printer. Right-click on this icon and different choices are offered, including "Protection counter". Point the mouse over this option and click on "Show current value". At this point, we obtain information "Current value" with the number of copies made and "Maximum value".

If the number shown in "Current value" is higher, probably one, that indicated for "Maximum value", it proves that the problem is the number of prints. Again choose "Protection counter", click "Reset protection counter" then "Clear Counteroverflow". By repeating the first step, "Current value" should read zero. If this is the case, the problem is solved. It remains to close the PC and restart.

The meter prints / waste pad counter has reached the maximum limit, which you must reset it. You will know that we think to reset the Epson and also changing the sponges to absorb ink that are inside the printer. I think you have a good chance to reset it using adjustment program by the help of Epson RX. If you do not know how, then fiddle around a bit to understand. Otherwise contact Epson service, but it costs more than you think.

This is clearly on the cartridges.

Either they were filled incorrectly or not work, because all colors are mixed so when you print. Clean the printheads with built-in functions 2 or 3 times. Where, then there is no improvement you have to replace the cartridges.

But you need not fear that your printer will suffer. The Epson cartridges have incorporated the print head, so it can pass anything on the printer itself.

If you are someone who likes refilling your printer cartridges and Epson printer you have, surely you have noticed they have a chip where they have a counter on the amount of ink available in the tank, as it is sometimes not allows you to use the cartridges meter because brand that is empty, even if it still exists. To solve this there is a set of utilities called SSC Service Utility for Epson Stylus Printers. The SSC service utility can reset some printers independently.
