HP DeskJet F4480 All-in-One Printer makes Noise

I have just bought the a HP Deskjet F4480 all-in-one printer which by the way is prints and copies as perfectly okay , however there is one issue that I like you people should help me with is while starting to print or copy, it release a 3 or 4 second of ratcheting sound . to be precisely illustrate the sound it like Loud-Rapid-Metallic . I have connected it to the HP computer which has Windows 7can anyone here help me on this I would be really be appreciating this thanks in advance

I think that is when the cartridge carriage moving, it’s makes some noise which is okay every printer make that kind of noise . If you think somewhat else is the reason then I suggest you to then open the printer door in the same manner how you change the cartridge and after check for some obstacle containing gobs of dried up ink.

Even I thought the gobs of dried up ink may be the reason to that but when Opened cartridge door furthermore start the printer. Cartridges moved to the right for the left and then stopped which made the ratcheting noise, then shifted to the left from right, after that to middle, it’s stopped. Not anything looked inappropriate. What might be wrong with the printer?

Every of my previous ink jet printers create the noise, and there reason was the drive belt or else gears are faulty I thinks you have the same drive belt and gears problem. See if this is the issue with you.

I had this same problem and what I suggest is make sure to check there are not anything obstacle on the Print Head drive, something like the piece of paper or something like that . in my printer which was also HP DeskJet F4480 , I establish that my son did dropped s some Nerds Candies into the Printer which was resulting in making the noise . I thing you might something stuck on the printer.

Mine is brand new but it was making the noise within few days on time so I removed and installed it again the ink cartridges, seen on n the front as well as back and I notice there is nothing loose or stuck. Look like It making the sounds as if something breaking, however it's printing very well even though my color is not that good. sadly my printer is new so It should not be breaking down so quick.

If your printer is yet in the warranty you must be able to get it repaired . I might be calling the HP online store and see I can find somebody to talk to me . If little old, you might have to reimburse for support. My printer had same thing and associates who is a computer specialist said the sound might be caused by the carriage breaking. It is not repairable . I actually like my printer . but the F4480 is no longer in HP's line . Now I guess I have to replace the ink types. I akin to the 60XL ink plus do not desire to make use of more than 2 cartridges.

Yeah I think the issue the broken carriages which is originated by the ink cartridges being installed not correctly . Be extremely cautious and grip to the carriage bar while installed a cartridge, don't stuff it in.
