    How do twisted pair cable works

    Twisted pair cable is now used everywhere. What is the reason behind that? Why they are so useful? How they are reduce noise and crosstalk? Does their design contribute in the properties of twisted pair cable? Actually what is their advantage and disadvantage and the connectivity work?

    Re: How do twisted pair cable works

    This is a type of cable which is twisted with each other, this help to reduce crosstalk and electromagnetic induction. It is also used in old telephone network and also used in Local Area Network cable because it is cheap too. The cable we are using in telephone is also known as shielded cable.

    It works like, the two wires carry equal and opposite signal and what could be difference is detected by difference. Noise source tend to couple both wire equally and introduce signal into the wire by coupling of electric and magnetic field. Thus noise thus produce common mode signal which is cancelled at the receiver if different signal is taken. If noise signal is close to the signal wire, the receiver will fail to eliminate it.

    Re: How do twisted pair cable works

    Twisted pairs are as simple wire but twisted around each other. This is designed so brilliantly so that if one wire came into the contact of electromagnetic interference then other wire will cancel the noise in the first wire. This is the reason why it is much more reliable for data communication over a long distance. One twisted pair may have two or more than two in a cable, depend on the application you are using, cable is defined.

    If the twisted pair cable s comes into the contact of some other cable adjacently then there is possible reason to build a capacitor and if the distance of wires goes longer then more capacitance will be formed, this results in crosstalk or leakage. In this case data that both wire carrying may cross over each other and possibility for missing out original information. There is a signal called differential technique used to reduce this type of problem, using this technique the data is converted into two complement technique and sent out the each twisted wire. If the data on one wire is positive then data on other wire is negative. Because signal on both Polaris are different then there is no chance to cross over.

    Re: How do twisted pair cable works

    In simple word I would like to tell you the advantage and disadvantage of twisted pair wire….

    Advantages::
    • As it is thin and very flexible wire so you can pass it through gap.
    • You can run more line through same writing ducts.
    • This is very cheap wire rather than any else.
    • Electrical noise can be prevented from either side of wire.

    Disadvantage::
    • This type of wire can’t carry high voltage
    • if you are using for streaming video then it cause delay.
    • This type of wire need protection from rain, direct contact with heat and can be easily damaged if pulled.
