Which is the newest firmware for Seagate Barracuda ST31000524AS JC45, JC4B or JC47?

Hey guys I am having Seagate Barracuda ST31000524AS and I want to know that which is the newest firmware JC45, JC4B or JC47? I have come across these but then I am confused among these as I have got varying response for the same. Is there anyone who has an idea about these and help me clear my doubts. Any suggestion regarding it will be appreciated.

Even I have came across them and I think that if you go according to the firmware version numbers, I mean as per their hexadecimal for e.g. 0-9, A-F then the JC4B is the latest where as the JC45 is the newest among these. You can just go through this matrix for the JC47 update, which is updating JC45 to JC47 but then the JC4B is not mentioned here. Just check it out.

I have found that the Dell's OEM firmware update has bricked the retail drives, I mean that I have heard that the JC4x is the retail firmware. Other than this the update matrix is having 2 versions for the 160GB and 250GB models. If you will take a look at the JC49.BAT file then you will get the following ones:

• STXcon is SeaTools Express.
• STXcon.exe DELTLOD.rss JC49.cfs

I have not used the above command line so I don’t have much information about the drive model and if you explore the B7032100.exe of windows version then you will get config.xml file and fdlA.exe, where config.xml file one has to specify the command line options.

I bought my ST31000524ASdrive yesterday and it came with a JC45 firmware but then I have found JC49 firmware from Dell in this thread so I just wanted to know that I am having the below files on a DOS boot stick:

• FDL497A.EXE
• JC49H.LOD

The problem here is that I am not having any idea about the correct flashing syntax, so can anyone just help me out with it? Any help regarding this will be appreciated.
