I found that if I attempt to command the scanner through the scanner controls the printer does not work. On the other hand, if I go into my system preferences and select the print and scan, then the order of the scanner, it works! Anticipate this helps. Let me know.

I followed his suggestion. The scanner icon is not acknowledged in the preferences panel "print / scan" and nothing happens.
