So been experiencing many hiccups in my new computer. After trying different things I've come to the conclusion that it has to be my harddrive as RAM or CPU are never overloaded or anything when the computer freezes for a bit. So I got the LifeGauard Diagnostics software from Western Digital for my Western Digital VelociRaptor 600GB.
I did the quick test and after 10 seconds I got this error:
Test Option: QUICK TEST
Model Number: WDC WD6000HLHX-01JJPV0
Unit Serial Number: WD-WXD1EC0JW473
Firmware Number: 04.05G04
Capacity: 600.13 GB
SMART Status: PASS
Test Result: FAIL
Test Error Code: 06-Quick Test on drive 1 did not complete! Status code = 07 (Failed read test element), Failure Checkpoint = 97 (Unknown Test) SMART self-test did not complete on drive 1!
Test Time: 01:24:51, November 15, 2011
I read on a different post in this forum of a user getting the same result, but his SMART Status failed. So is my hard drive still salvageable since my SMART Status passed? I don't think so, but was just hoping for a second opinion. Thanks.
