FW800 Cable tried three other units that work with, nothing happens. Even on my Mac Pro will not start. Is a cable from 800 to 400 and starts, nevertheless not on my MacBook pro once more.

Box is checked for external drives Finder Preferences. These two units were connected when I did the firmware update. Could have done something? It info / FireWire exception says up to 800

So do not get an answer here, so I decided to connect another hard drive to MacBook pro. It worked. The two discs were trying to install were the ones that I had connected during the update software and firmware.

This tells me that fried FireWire 800 ports on the units. The session for me is removing external drives / dis-connects intended for firmware updates.
