Is xgd3 disks requires Lite-on Burner?

I have heard that the latest xgd3 disks (MW3, etc.) will be needed to have the certain brand of Lite-on burner to function and if you are not having that then it will not function. Currently, I am using the normal burner on BF3 and there is no problem to boot the disk. Is there something that I am missing? If you have some idea about this then please let me know that. I will be thankful to all the replies for this. Thank you so much in advance for replies.

Yes, this is seriously required and if you use the truncate method then this may lead to disk failure and therefore a new burner is must for this. I hope that someone will come up with some detailed information for this.
