    Smart test and seatools not working for Barracuda ST31000528AS

    I am owning a Barracude ST31000528AS hard drive and when I was trying to use smart test and the seatools they failed doing that so can anyone please help me by letting me know what it this and have anyone had faced this ever and then how have you guys solved it, please share your experience and help me.

    Well what I can tell you that the usual reason for the failure of the smart test is excessive number of the bad sector and to solve this I would be asking you to try a comprehensive smart diagnostic and see if that is helping you out and look for a reallocated or pending or incorrect able sectors and then try to solve the problem and then it would surely work.

    As you have suggested so I downloaded the HDDscan and ran it and then my smart test has been showing a reallocation sectors count very bad.

    1) With the value as.
    Value: 025
    Worst: 025
    Raw(hex): 000000000-0C25
    Threshold: 036
    Can anyone explain me what this is about? What this values have been trying to tell me.

    2) And one more value I have found and they were
    Value: 100
    Worst: 100
    Raw(hex): 000000000-0000
    Threshold: 036
    Now I really need someone to help me.

    Hello
    I think this basically means that your driver has been failed. And then current value has been 25 of the reallocated sector count and then the fallen below its threshold upto 36. HDDSCAN has been reporting that the drive has been replaced with the 3109 which is bad sector with the spares. What I can suggest you over this is just have the backup and replace this drive.

    Well Howitzer yes you are right that this can be because of access of bad sector i downloaded a application for spyware and malware and scanned with it i found some virus in my pc and many more bad sector and i understood that this was a problem with my system and i removed them and the problem was solved so i think that this was a good deal and i am happy now thanks for the support.
