Pc unable to recognize and clone Escient HDD

I'm trying to clone my Escient E2-40 hard drive, which I think is based on Linux. I use Clonezilla, which is a program boot CD. My problem is that neither my PC nor Mac will recognize the hard drive when you install it. With the Windows XP PC does not show in My Computer, but shows with my program of the Socialist International, but only information that is 38G. My question is what value should be my pullover? I've shot several times and tried various settings. What am I missing? Also does anyone have an ISO to burn to a CD so you can load a 500G drive again?

I have no specific experience with the players Escient, but I was able to clone another system based on the hard disk using an operating system of ownership by using a high-definition hardware cloner. I bought it off ebay for about $ 200, used it to put in a larger unit, and then sold again on eBay for about the same amount. Not sure if this is legit with Escient, but my hardware manufacturer has no problem with me doing so.

Re: Pc unable to recognize and clone Escient HDD

Possessing a Fireball MX-111 I wanted to upgrade the hard drive of a larger size for more music. The easy part was to buy a drive of 500 GB ATA133 IDE to replace the 160 GB disk factory. The hard part was trying to figure out the right way to get system files on the hard drive again. There is a lot of talk about "CD Gold" out there and a friend here was kind enough to provide me with a copy of one. Unfortunately, this did not work for me. I put the new hard drive and load the cd burnt and nothing happened. The Escient was restarted, but no progress or load the software from the CD.

One interesting thing I discovered about the Escient units is that they really do not use the partition. Reports entire drive as unallocated space, this is a good thing ... I'll explain later. The disk copy program took about 2 hours to copy my original disk to the new drive of 500 GB. The backup program report of 16 disc read errors at the start of copying. I guess my original disk had some problems, but did not affect the operation of my fireball. Now, because of Escient unallocated space used for storage, did not need to resize a partition to use the larger unit.

Recently I tried to put the new drive copied my Escient, crossed my fingers and tension. Because the copy of sector to sector, waiting for my Escient fire up as if nothing had happend ... but that was not the case. The Escient start, but then said it was downloading a software update. After that I have download through an upgrade process. However, the drive is blank and did not include the music and my movies on my changer did not show rare. After an hour all my media was present. My Escient is working properly and now has about three times more storage is much more than before.

I suspect the fireball 40 uses a different structure from the hard disk than my MX-111 uses. One solution would be to use a partition manager to extend the partition to copy. The people that make the disk copy program I have also suggested a free partition manager powerful available for download. This should help increase the size of the partition with the total size of the new album.

Either way is that the Linux partition or not should not matter since DD did a sector of the disk sector duplication (tried it twice.) The reason I went with DD is that even if the drive started on the MX-111 and reported the size of 160 GB (but actually is 500 GB in size), then I at least know if it is possible to make a backup or not. My point here is that even with the copy of "perfect" image of the drive 160 GB disk, 500 GB unbootable.
