This question s a bit difficult to answer directly. It is not easy to decide which can be the best external sound card for an laptop or netbook. It depends on the budget of your system and also the choice which you want. You can go for a high sound quality or better a nominal quality. So for me to put mine on first, external sound card with 4 inputs + MIDI I / O support.

Check for M-Audio Transit USB. USB is the best and easy interface you can try. This external usb does not needs any external power source. You do not have to worry whether it is PCI and within two years there is no standard PCI motherboards, it will be replaced by PCI express almost everything, is inevitable, but the USB there is no indication in the long term so long life to the sound card and USB. I found this one better than creative.
