Want to Know Power of Alienware Aurora Power supply

I am French and I have an Alienware Aurora branch (D03AWA01) Dell last year in France. This team already has an Ati Radeon HD5870. Today I want to know if I can add an Ati Radeon HD5870 others to do crossfire. The problem is I can not find the information that indicates the power of the power supply. Therefore, I do not know if this new card can support. Also, I have two connectors that are available (P16 and P17), but it is written: "P16 and P17 connectors are not active on the system of 525 W power supplies." So I tried to replace the cables and power supply P15 P14 P16 and P17 in (never used) and it works! Be capable of we finish that the P16 and P17 are activated and the power supply is superior than 525 watts? And I can add my card?

    • PCI Express based PC is required with one X16 lane graphics slot available on the motherboard
    • 500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connectors recommended (600 Watt and four 6-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX technology in dual mode)
    • Certified power supplies are suggested.
    • Minimum 1GB RAM
    • Installation software require CD-ROM drive
    • DVD playback requires DVD drive
    • Blu-ray playback requires Blu-ray drive
    • For an ATI CrossFireX system, a second ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics card, an ATI CrossFireX Ready motherboard and one ATI CrossFireX Bridge Interconnect cable per graphics card (included) are required

In good health, that's an attractive expansion, since Dell sells aroura two 5870 in crossfire throughout years with a power supply 875. If this is factual, next Dell wants to inform all clientele who buy Aurora card dual video advertising (5870) in the crossfire they have to have your power supply instantly replace by Dell. I propose copying all the previous post, send it to Dell and get a replacement KW power for your system. I immobile I have my "Order Details" with a dual ATI Radeon 5870, 2GB GDDR5 and Cosmic Black - 875 watt power supply. since you say Dell has many errors only 875 watt power supply provides when a 1KW is the minimum?

I was facing exactly same problem than I call Dell support community from France. The customer support executive told me with the objective of there was no predicament for a second HD5870 card with my configuration (875Watts). The predicament is that I would like to sell the card around 550 € for faithfully the equivalent as I have done. Pleasant significant by means of the objective of the card is sold at a smaller quantity than 250 euros in France

Aurora has by no means sell other than 875 watt PSU and it do nowadays. So if Dell is conscious that his PSU 875 is not appropriate equipment they present on their own machines, then Dell wants to replace our 875 PSU with a power of 1 KW.Dell is selling the Aurora ALX at the present with a power supply 875 and 6950 in two cfx, and a single 6990 with a power supply 875. What is attractive is that a 750 watt PSU smallest amount required for a 6990 on the site of AMD, however, only a total of 600 watts is needed for two 5870 in CFX.

I think you missed the setup of 5870 in response. Or it could be talking about a 5870 and not a Real version of Dell. Another thing to consider is not so much Dell sell greeting cards are the stock in question. Many of them have to be customized by Dell to run with less power. The problem is that it as well revenue that the cards are slower, make use of custom BIOS and can merely work with the drivers from Dell. What’s more, if you desire to sprint an SLI configuration / XFire possibly will include buying another Dell card to match the one that came with your system. That is not forever the case, but many times in the past has been true. I know the GTX 460, ATI 5770 ATI 5970 and Dell are not selling stock cards. The 5770 can only run the Dell BIOS and use energy much less than the stock 5770. The Dell 5770 is powered by a 350W power supply. The GTX 460 is Dell sells on commission and do not even have VGA / DVI them. I do not know what the new 6 series ATI Dell are just going by what they have done in the past would not be surprised if they have also been simplified to work in the smaller power supply.
