Hello everyone since I am planning to buy a CD writer for my PC but I am confuse on the point whether I should opt for DVD + R(W) or DVD-R (W) , I had seen various comparison between this two, but at last I am unable to make the decision, as because after going through the content of the comparison, as because that content never include precise technical information in it, so I am posting this thread to clear my doubt for making my buying decision, and as per my friend recommendation, this is the best place to put my question. Your every suggestion will help me a lot. Thanks

Let me tell your first that there are only two categories of DVD currently and include one "outcast". And you have sub category of the "minus" ("-") formats (DVD-R, DVD-R (W) and in the "plus" ("+") formats (DVD+R, DVD+RW), and while there is also the older version called as DVD-RAM format and is pretty tough to find it out in the market. As this is useable for taking or putting data, but let me clear with the latest DVD format that is DVD –R, and on the point that the latest release is lacking some features then the Plus version, so I don’t think that it is the genuine news.

Hey guys at first I want to put my knowledge on this topic that a DVD-R is a write-once format and if the data is burned onto the DVD platter than that disk will be freeze with that information. Now let discussing and adding up the "W" to DVD-R, and then you would use the DVD-RW could be removed or re-written up to a hundred times. As it for listing it seems to be strange but if you can opt for DVD-RW apparently has major benefits over DVD-R. So as per me you can go for DVD –RW without any hesitation.

Hey there first while making the decision make first clear that which kinda drive you have in your system, I means by it that which DVD format it use to burn as the oldest drive use to burn only DVD-R discs and some of them may use to read the DVD-RW also and the latest one use to burn DVD+R and DVD+RW and even the latest one use to burn -R DL, DVD-RW DL also. So here make yourself clear first that which kinda drive you are using on your system and move further.

Hey dude hi, have you heard about all category of recordable version of DVD? Actually DVD have 5 version of it DVD: DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW and DVD-RAM While the RW series have the capability of re-writing the data on disk as many time as you want and while the other two recordable format including DVD-R(RW) and DVD+R(RW) are seriously in competition with each other. And many of claims are made in market as that one is better than other but as per my knowledge and information I have with me they both are almost similar.

Hey I discussing and putting of my information on DVD burners as DVD+R and +RW are formats of Philips. And they are not ready to contract with Sony to install (–R) recording on their devices so as an alternative developed formats that almost same like the original -R and -RW terms but stray enough to be consider as the different formats. Pioneer and some of the Chinese brands are paying cheap royalty for the promotion the +R format, this is the only information I had with myself, no point of being confuse on this point as nothing official have been claim about the better version, so you can even choose the Minus version of burner.

Hey let me upgrade your knowledge for the Plus DVD, where most of the time people get confuse while comparing with other type as DVD+RW have been launch before DVD+R and storage capacity of the Plus format is almost similar to the capability of Minus format i.e., 4.7GB, instead of that the Plus format have the faster speed of writing data than the Minus one excellent supportive for dragging and dropping files on desktop while make it too much flexible for composing the data on the disk same. So yeah as if is comparing for speed that the Plus version have advantage factor over the Minus.
