| Computer forgets DVD drive – MSI K8N-Neo4
The burner got wasted, so I bought the new ASUS DVD burner from Newegg, and with that I disconnect both IDE optical drives and installed this new one. It worked superb and without any problem for a short time , but as now my System infrequently "forgets" that there is a drive in my computer. I have the HDDs plugged into SATAs 1 and 2 and the optical drive in SATA3. And then whenever the computer doesn’t detect the drive, I use to plug it into SATA4, and after that all goes normally. After When some days passes, it also started same problem with SATA4 so I plugged it again back to SATA3. I have also changed the power plugs that I use on the optical drive. That again worked for a shorter time for me , but the problem doesn’t vanish. So Actually I m confused with the problem whether it a power problem? Is it my mobo battery? Is it my optical drive? My mobo? I am totally lost at it ? Anyone’s help will be highly treasured! |

Hi, You problem is really to be care and factor to be worried about, You have a Burner which is function as a Master. There may be possibility that your chipset might have trouble handling all the ATA devices, Addition to it, Checkout your BIOS that your DVD burner is at UDMA2 and more than that. So get this basic thing clear first, something due to this issue also all problems emerged, so you have to be always be careful about thing minor thing too. |

hello there, I had gone through your problem and must say that PSU is always a factor for creating and not improper operating, and from my knowledge I can say that Thermaltakes are not that efficient till yet, were not that much capable in past too. If you have and older version of it, than try out a low powered Graphics card, it may sort out this problem to some extent and comes up with smooth working system much improved than the before one. |

The possibility is that you might have your RAID enabled. So check out with that either your RAID is enable in BIOS. You are not going to get anything by enabling a RAID for single HDD so try out. Your problem could be that you have RAID enabled, disable RAID in BIOS. You gain nothing by having RAID enabled for a single HDD. So do with this each one. |

Hi, Is your burner jumpered Master now, and even at the end of the PATA cable of course! Either if you are using CableSelect, than all the material connected to a particular cable should be CableSelect and if possible all PATA belongings things, as it will comfort your future work, moving and replacing, much smoothly. UDMA you can start it with Device manager in windows, Checkout the properties not the actual disk but on the the IDE/ATA controller. Now your driver will be visible to you. |
