Want to replace fan which makes noisy sound in Dell XPS 420

I want to replace my noisy fan and want to install new fan in my Dell XPS 420 which is running Windows XP OS. I am fade up of this very irritating fan. Please help me. I visited many site but not got any information about the replacement of fan which is located toward the rear of the unit, blowing on the third circuit board from the bottom. Give me some suggestion about how I can reduce the noise of my XPS 420 computer. Its making such a noise that I am not able to work even.

Look very firstly clean the fan properly so that if there is some dirt in it, get cleaned, use canned compressed air for cleaning the fan, using other cleaning instrument can harm other part of CPU. Cleaning the fan can help to reducing noisy sound from fan, and make video card work more effectively. after fan is remove and cleaned properly. The heatsink should be apart from the video board at this point. Since the heatsink is solid metal, you don't have to be as gentle in cleaning it. Still, use rubbing alcohol and this time a non-abrasive paper towel or cloth you can clean away the thermal compound until the heatsink shines back at you. When cleaning, clean with the grain of the metal. This prevents micro scratches.

Another reason is that you can replace it off by bye in the new one. It can be bought and changed in hardly 30 minutes. Stuff you will need along the way are Precision Phillips Screw Driver, Needle Nose Pliers, Rubbing Alcohol (70% or greater), Cotton Swabs, Paper Towel (Soft, not abrasive), Compress Air this all thing will be required to remove the old fan and to clean video card. So that the new fan don’t make noise too.

So if you think that you can change yourself than change it, or else get fan changed by any engineer. Because video card is a delicate part of computer if you don’t put properly at proper place that can make a video card useless. Chances are when you purchase a new fan it will not line up with the current holes, so you will need to make new ones. In my case I put the fan in the center, and scratched a few marks on inside the heatsink area. Be sure to measure the size of the fan, the one I needed for my project was 40mm. Yes, everything is in metric, so you will have to get a metric ruler. I recommend you that, rather than doing yourself get done with the help of engineer.

I suggest you that you get the fan replaced by any shop of any engineer near you. That will not cost much, but will take u out of this situation, and prevent your computer from more damage. If the fan is not working properly, then there no option to repair such a minor part. The other option is, If it is in warranty period so please contact the dealer from whom you bought your computer or video card. And it is in warranty period than you will be getting the part replaced by itself.
