I have no experience through the e7 + e9 but in recent times purchased the HDP and feel it is a better buy because it was less likely to feel the itch to upgrade it, and generally cleaner creation (less than one point on the desktop). I individually had the AD700 and HDP, there is no actual perceptible enhancement, and however it's a dissimilar story in support of high-end headphones. In my understanding, the AD700 does not advantage as of amplification in any way.
