    question UPS or Laptop?

    Hi,
I work for an MT company in Kerala. From next month am required to work from home for 9 hours continuously. My area always has frequent power cuts which go up to 1-2 hours. So I wanted to know what is the safe and cheap way to go- Buy a large capacity UPS or get a cheap net-book for that money? I use an intel celeron PC with 15" crt and 400W smps.

    If UPS:
Whats the best KVA rating, for 1-2 hrs bakup and brand/prices?

    If Netbook:
Cheapest but vfm netbook available in market? (it should have ethernet)

    Any other advice?

Please give all your suggestions as soon as possible

    Thankyou.

As you have already mentioned that there are power cuts in your area, then consider getting a UPS for a safer side. Buying a Netbook in this terms and conditions might also damage in the situation of power cuts. And both Ex. 225 kVA, power factor 0.8. (182.4 kW) are with maximum limits. Neither rated kW nor rated kVA should be exceeded. At rated pf (.8) both limits are reached simultaneously. For a pf better than rated, kW limit is reached first. For a pf poorer than rated, kVA limit is reached first.

Techguru01- I've asked for netbook because from what i've heard it provides about 6 hours battery backup.

For UPS I want to know which one to go for -2000VA/3000VA etc.. (i have 600VA UPS which lasts only 9 minutes)

    Also prices and brands pls.
