Data Lifeguard Not working Well in the WD

I have been using the laptop of Compaq since long and also the configuration in that laptop is of 250 GB hard disk and have been using it since 3 yrs. I have performed a lot of the actions and have done a lot of the job by using the laptop. I have went out for a month and have kept the system of the computer off since one month, and when I have started the system I have got the issue of the drives not being recognized in it. I have tried using the option of the Data Lifeguard in it but still the issue is being faced in it. I don’t know what the issue with it is. Please help me out with this and give me the details of the Lifeguard in it.
