Seagate Barracuda XT with SATA 6 Gb/s

I am getting used hard drive, Seagate Barracuda XT. My friend's uncle wants to sell that, and I am thinking to take it. I want some suggestions from your side. I have asked some of my friends but they were not having any idea about it. So suddenly it came to my mind to ask you members about this. I just came to know from web that this hard drive comes with SATA 6 Gb/s. Seagate Barracuda XT offers with a 3.5-inch desktop hard drive with the new SATA III interface. For high performance of the 2-TB drive to a 64 MB of cache and a speed of 7,200 rpm provide min. I don't know that it is true or not.!! But I am sure that you will give some suggestions. Also would be grateful, if you provide some other alternative for it.

Re: Seagate Barracuda XT with SATA 6 Gb/s

I am providing the product details which can be useful for you to decide about buying it. Seagate Barracuda XT addresses the applications requiring high performance and capacity. The latter will provide the memory of 2 TB. Seagate realized the 2 TB in the Barracuda XT with four 500-gigabyte magnetic disks. The platters rotate at 7200 rpm. To buffer the data, a 64 MByte very generously sized cache. Seagate Barracuda XT equips the first time with the new SATA III interface from. The new as SATA 3.0 or SATA 6 Gb / s known standard remains backward compatible with SATA I and SATA II connectors SATA 3.0 are unchanged, and existing cable can be used for 6-GBit/s-Transfers. However, should the consortium SATA high quality cable.

Re: Seagate Barracuda XT with SATA 6 Gb/s

Seagate Barracuda XT indicates when an idle power consumption of 6.39 watts. In typical queries, the energy requirement increases to 9.23 watts. min for a 7200 rpm and four magnetic disks, this information is a very acceptable range. The Barracuda XT achieved in our tests, the maximum sequential read rate of 142 Mbytes/s. With this good value is the disk itself but as expected from the theoretical SATA -II limit with 3 Gb/s still far away. More performance with SATA 3.0 in HDD to wait a little longer to let more so. SATA 3.0 makes sense at present only SSDs that come with over 250 MB/s SATA-II already at the limit.

Re: Seagate Barracuda XT with SATA 6 Gb/s

While the average access time of 5.39 ms is a very good value still be full stroke access with 16.58 ms much too slow. Self-drive with 5400 rpm act here nimble. In our tests, the Barracuda convinced only when reading files of different sizes with a top mark of 53 MByte/s. The letter and copy files to do competitive products in spite of the large buffer of the Barracuda XT in some cases significantly faster. Not surprisingly - as almost all modern 3.5-inch hard drives - Seagate Barracuda XT at work for a 7200 drive is acoustically very reserved.

Re: Seagate Barracuda XT with SATA 6 Gb/s

Seagate Barracuda XT boasts the field compared with an overall satisfactory overall performance. Who sequential transfer rates and lots of storage requires high, such as video editing, get the Barracuda XT is a very good product . In the field tests typically convinced the hard drive especially when reading. Write and copy dominates the competition better. The SATA 3.0 interface is on the Barracuda XT is a nice gimmick, some advantages in this mode with the pervasive SATA II controllers are not obtained. Only with advanced SATA-III controllers will continue with hard drives possible, a small advantage, because the interface energy efficiency as well as Native Command Queuing (NCQ) to enhance the well.
