Cannot resume Windows having PS/2 keyboard

I have got a desktop system and I had a Windows Vista Operating system , but now I have upgraded to Windows Vista operating system and along with that I had bought a PS/2 keyboard as well, but it stopped working after 7 to 8 months , then I purchased a USB keyboard . But there was an issue when I had installed the Windows 7 operating system. The issue is that the keyboard does not start until the system boots to windows and the Windows desktop screen is displayed. Till this the problem is not encountered , but when I put my computer in the sleep mode , there is now way to get back to the Windows screen, but I have to restart the system again. So My question is there any other way other than buying a new PS/2 keyboard and solve it ? Or at least let me know if you have any idea about this issue.

Well I think that is the only possible way , you will have to but a PS/2 minidin keyboard and select from the keyboard, but you said that you do not want to spend your money on buying a new keyboard for merely waking up your system from the sleep mode. After buying a new keyboard you can do the desired task yourself. And the other way is to avoid using the Sleep mode in your system. You will have to instruct the other users of the system and tell them not to put the machine in the sleep mode I think the USB keyboards must work better than the PS/2 keyboards , so will have to just check the chipset drivers and see if they are installed or not.

Yes there is indeed the way to buy a new OS/2 Minidin keyboard and attach it to the system, but as you mentioned , you d not wish to spend any money on the new keyboard , so in that case you will have to enable the settings for the new USB keyboard in the BIOS, but for that you will have to bring a PS/2 Keyboard , you can borrow it from your friends or relatives in case if may have one. keyboard and You should enable USB keyboard support in your BIOS using a PS/2 keyboard. Some motherboard requires this setting to be enabled so we can use USB keyboard at POST screen

I was facing the same Issue with the Keyboard I was too stuck in W7 Resume Loader of my operating system window and what I did , I went into the BIOS as you had directed and I did a change in the keyboards , it was done from the operating system to the BIOS i.e the USB controller keyboard was changed from the OS to the BIOS. It is a very effective step and trust me it will surely work.

There is the simplest solution for this problem, but here the question arises is how many PS/2 ports are there in your system. If you do not know which is the port for the keyboard , then I will tell you. Just turn the system tower in such a manner that you should face the rear end of the systems, where you can see all the cabling being attached with the system. Look onto those cablings, there you will be able to locate a purple colored port which is the port for the PS/2 keyboards. It will be unoccupied as of now, because you have a USB keyboard attached to your system. So you can just check in your CPU , how many such ports are there in your system. I am suggesting you to buy the PS/2 to USB converter because in it you will have to insert your USB keyboard and and that converter device will be attached your PS/2 port. This will surely resolve your issue as you will not have to worry about the keyboard being recognized as it is being attached to the PS/2 keyboard.
