Ideapad Y550 subwoofer is not working with Windows 7

It is nearly 4 months since I have started using Lenovo Y550. It fulfills my entire requirement. There is still one feature lacking that I cannot able to use the subwoofer yet. It is only when the computer is running with Windows 7. In other OS like previous vista I never had this issue. The Home theater button or function is not enabling in Windows 7. I cannot hear any sound and the system contrast also doesn’t changes at all. Please tell me how can use the full experience of this function?

Have you tried the latest realtek sound drivers on your laptop? Does that function is really present in that laptop? Can you see the realtek audio manager under control panel? I think there are some settings under Waves MaxxAudio tab. Can you see the realtek setup icon on system tray? I am afraid that the subwoofer hardware might have damaged otherwise windows 7 doesn’t included this functionality. Have you tried updating OS?

Follow the below steps if the Windows 7 is not enabling the subwoofer.

• Install the drivers from Lenovo official site only.
• Uninstall the Realtek driver; delete all Realtek and Waves entries from the registry which is under AudioProcessingObjects.
• Download and re-install Lenovo Energy Management, then again re-install the Realtek HD driver.
• Find the latest BIOS (2.05) for Y550 and install it.

Did you install the Windows 7 from the original CD? If yes the n I assume that the audio drivers’ files may be corrupted in your computer and because of this you are not getting any sound from subwoofer.

1. Open this link in your favorite browser.
2. Select appropriate region and language.
3. Under option 1 enter your laptop serial number and click search
4. Select "Audio Section"
5. Choose the best up-to-date and applicable driver according to your Windows OS.
6. Download and install it
7. Restarts your computer and see the changes
