sad HD DV6000 Woes! Please Help

Ok, My son gave me a hp dv6000 running Vista and said he forgot the password and didn't have a recovery disk.
I went online and found that removing the CMOS battery on an HP would wipe out the password, so I did it. Yep, no password was asked for but the err2err3 error msg came up along with "pxe-e61:media test failure, check cable
I went into the setup utility and ran the diagnostic and got "test status #1-07".
So now the laptop doesn't work at all!
I removed the hdisk and reseated it, but i still get the failed diagnostic test. Help! I'm usually able to figure out (with the help of forums, google etc.) how to fix things, but this has me stumped. I'd appreciate any assistance you can give.

It seems that there might be some kind of device failure. I will advise you to contact the HP tech support and ask for the help. Your device might need to repair. Just go through the below given link which is having the link for the same. HP support will try to help you out. So if you can then go through the same and see whether it is working with the issue or not.
