Clean or format the hard drive

I am having Microsoft windows XP operating system installed on my desktop. I am having a lot of data on my system. Last night while browsing the internet there was a virus attack on my system. Due to this virus attack my windows files were corrupted and my system is not loading. I want a solution to format my hard disk so that i can install a new copy of operating system.

To clean the hard drive you can use WipeDrive utility. WipeDrive utility is a powerful cleaning utility used for cleaning hard disk. It cleans a hard drive from a damaged operating system and also recovers the system from the virus attack. you can download the WipeDrive utility from the internet and install it to wipe the hard disk.

Steps to format the hard disk are as given below:

1. Erase all the files using disk sanitizer.
2. Insert the windows installation CD into the CD drive and restart your system.
3. When the welcome screen appears press the enter key to set up windows.
4. Press c to continue setup and F8 to accept the license agreement. if you want to create a new partition then press c and enter the partition size.
5. Select NTFS or FAT option file system and now you need to follow the wizard to complete the set up of windows.
6. Hard drive will be formatted and a new operating system will be installed.

Steps to set up windows NT operating system is given below.

• Before starting the installation of windows NT you should run SMARTDRV which will help you in installing the windows NT more faster.
• Insert the CD into the CD drive.
• Type x: (where x is the CD drive)
• Now type CD WINNT and press enter to go into the windows directory.
• When you are in X:\WINNT, type winnt /b.
• Follow the on screen instruction to finish the installation.

I am having MS-DOS operating system installed on my desktop. Last night i have downloaded songs from the internet so while downloading songs my operating system files got corrupted. So I want to setup a new copy of MS-DOS. I need a solution or steps to install a MS-DOS operating system.

You can set up MS-DOS on your system by using the below steps

1. Place the MS-DOS diskette into the computer system.
2. At the A:\> type setup and hit the enter key.
3. After pressing the enter key installation will begin.
4. Follow the on screen instruction to complete the set up.
