I have gone through your issue and it seems to me that if you need the system under $ 700 than you can go for the AMD Phenom II X3 720 CPU. It will suite best for you and also will provide the 2.8GHz 3 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 95W. And then you can go with the GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4P AM3 Motherboard which is the best in this scenario and also will satisfy all your needs. I will suggest you to select the low memory ram because if you will try and purchase a high one than it will cost you more so go with the G.SKILL 2GB 240-Pin DDR2. I hope that these suggested peripherals will satisfy all your needs and also will help you to build the system under your budget.

In this case I want you to go with the Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 250 GB hard disk. It is the best in the business and also will come up in your needs. Don’t try and increase the memory because you will not feel the need since you are building the system for your kid. I hope that this hard disk will be cheapest for you. So buy this hard disk without hesitating.

If you want the cheapest PSU then you can opt for the CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI. It is one of the best choices for you and it also compatible with the Intel core i7 processors. There is no need of going for the DVD reader writer just buy the SAMSUNG DVD reader which will cost almost nothing and also will fit into your budget. I am sure you will go with the COOLER MASTER RC-690-KKN1-GP Black SECC/ ABS ATX Mid Tower Computer Case only. According to me it is the latest and the best for you.
