    Modifications in Xigmatek Midgard Case

So far, Xigmatek is primarily known for high-performance processor and graphics card cooler. The attractive design and the successful transitions between the front cover and give a rounded picture. But I am here to know more about the modifications in Xigmatek Midgard Case. I have also heard that various combinations of the housing with fan kits, power supplies and the famous Xigmatek CPU Cooler "Dark Knight" are available. Please provide more information about the Xigmatek Midgard Case.

With the Midgard dare Xigmatek a first step in the housing sector and selects a design that works beautifully simple and should appeal to a broad consumer mass. The aggressive pricing of around 60 €, it looks good not only on the desktop but also in the wallet. In the front there are five removable panels, each equipped inside with a millimeter thick foam layer, which serves as a dust filter. Take off the front of the chassis, one finds the typical forward-stamped covers the bays. The trick here is: in contrast to most other cases (not just in this price range) have the covers, if built drives no longer be used back on. The generous 120-mm LED fan in the front does its job reliably and sucks fresh air through a clean-crafted grille in the interior of the housing. The appearance of the front mesh sits down on the entire cover of the Midgard continued. Broken only by the upper edge of the front and the high-quality power and reset switches, in the middle are the usual LEDs for power and disk activity, there is a coherent picture. Optionally can include either two 120 - or 140-mm-mount fan to the heat rising quicker to transport from the case. For fixing the fan is easy to remove the cover in seconds and without tools. The pity is that fit between the lid and chassis fan not even a radiator for water cooling. This is due to the small distance between the cover and the chassis of only 20 mm.

On the back, which offers almost already familiar image with the bottom-mounted power supply and the typical tube grommets for operating an external water cooling. However, a total of four pre-throughs can be found, which can be tailored to individual needs. In color on the back of the customer is pleasantly surprised: The entire chassis is both from within and from outside, completely painted matte black. On the left outer wall can be either two 120 - or 140-mm block fan. At an opening you can also do even the option of an 80 - or 92-mm fan accommodate. The right exterior wall behind the motherboard already has a ventilation option, if a CPU cooler is used with a back plate. Behind the hard drive cage, there is another opening to the built-in storage media in addition to the front fan to supply fresh air. Overall, the Midgard extremely well made, like from the first second from the outside and is already offering an unusually high level of equipment. The front can be quite fiddly to remove and the side walls 0.8 mm thick steel rest very firmly on the chassis.

If you open the Xigmatek Midgard, you can at the sight of the completely flat-black painted interior, offset by some orange elements, not suppress a slight grin, as the housing optics for this price range simply impressive! The list of features is long. First is the bottom-mounted power supply, which gets its fresh air through a dust filter on the bottom of the housing and attached vibration damping is considered. Before that can optionally, a further 120 - or 140-mm fans are attached to transport cool air from outside into the interior of Midgard. Expansion cards can be attached without tools to the delight of the buyer via a mechanism and are reliably held in position. The hard drive cage is a line with the inclusion of the 5.25 "drives. Each of the five 3.5" hard disk drive bracket to which vibrate the storage media by means of four screws be fixed, can be instantly pushed into the hard drive cage and remove. Unfortunately, the generous space for five hard drives at the expense of air flow from the 120mm LED fan is in the front. All drives in the front can be mounted fortunately tools. Because of the intelligent cable management system, all cables are routed behind the Mainboardtray. Should the space between the right outer wall and Mainboardtray be too low, with the assistance the three supplied cable supports are provided in order. In addition, a generous cut for CPU coolers, which rely on a baking sheet, available. The conditions for the insulation of Midgard are also not ideal. Many small bumps and breaks in the areas of chassis and side walls complicate the fitting of insulation materials. Who does not, however, all openings in this case needed to bring each one fan, this can paste over confident. Alternatively, such a combination of the housing with additional fans are used.

Re: Modifications in Xigmatek Midgard Case

Looking at the hard facts about the equipment of the Xigmatek Midgard, is emerging, which is confirmed in handling this case: The installation of the hardware design is largely unproblematic. All components are in the interior space and held reliably with the tool-less systems in place. For laying the cable is already behind the Mainboardtray plenty of storage space, so are generally not resorted to the enclosed cable management needs. Even from the outside gives a clear picture from the Midgard and all attachments, as the side walls, the cover or front rest securely. The white-lit orange fan round the look off successfully. It is a pity that the pre-installed fan not vibrate out of house are attached. Order should optimize the air flow in the interior in addition to the existing fans yet present in the opening must be installed before the power supply. The air stream then more cold air from the bottom of the housing into the interior and allows the sensitive components to cool better. Is extremely positive at this point to highlight the included fan controller, you can use to turn down the fan pre-installed easily. This ensures that high fan speeds are only used when they are needed. Overall, a nice extra, what you (especially in this price range) is very rarely found as a feature characteristic. Conclusion, can a body characterized by its interior space, especially when it brings to ability to block current graphic cards. In this test criterion, gives the Midgard's current leader with impressive 30.5 cm.

The temperatures were measured while the system is the 3DMark05 executed as a loop. The volume measurements were made once more a purely subjective and are therefore rather than in a decibel scale in this test, an exception in grades from 1 (inaudible) to 6 (extremely bothersome) stated - in future tests we will get back only to real values. At about 530 RPM are both very quiet fan and it is still only a slight clicking of bearing exercise. min in the region around 750 rpm, which corresponds to about 7 V, they are already stronger, but still not annoying. Here, next to the clacking hum is also a true increase. It operates the supplied fan at 12 V, one can hear a very distinct humming and clacking of the camps. This noise has, however limited, although one should sit at least three feet away from Xigmatek Midgard to have his rest. Even when operating at 12 V, the fans move unfortunately not very much air through the housing. At the front of the air flow is reduced by the hard drive cage, if not eliminated altogether. The rear fan keeps the warm air quickly transported from the interior. In terms of temperatures, needs the Midgard not behind other enclosures in its class to hide. It consistently makes a positive impression. However, it is striking that not the difference between silent and normal operation is very great.

Re: Modifications in Xigmatek Midgard Case

Who besides playing often at the computer, and in doing so concentrate needs his rest needed should think about making his system is extremely quiet. Although it is quickly the idea of a water cooling with low speed fans, in the case of the Xigmatek Midgard designed the installation of an internal water cooling, however, very difficult. It would in the front area, provided it does not need all of the five 5.25 "bays, but sufficient space to store about a pump and reservoir, but it can be difficult a generously dimensioned radiators to accommodate. Neither between chassis and cover, or between chassis and motherboard is enough room to mount a dual radiator or radiator including a dual fan. However, the area can be used on the back wall before the power supply and the range of 120-mm LED fan, fitted with two single radiators. Since the Midgard sufficient opportunities almost all components used to supply fresh air from outside, it is a great way to cool CPU, graphics card and Co. passive. A first step should be to equip all the fans in the housing with vibration isolators, so that no more vibrations to the chassis or possibly transferred to the side walls. Since the side walls into place very firmly to the chassis, the Midgard naturally also bring sufficient mass (about 9.28 kilograms) and it also still stands on absorbing feet, should vibrations which are transmitted from the interior made provisions to the environment. If the pre-installed fans on 7V or regulated under it, they are very quiet. Only a slight clicking of stock is still be perceived. The power supply and hard drives are vibration-damped or decoupled stored and thus made largely quiet. A very quiet system is the part of the housing from nothing in the way!!

Re: Modifications in Xigmatek Midgard Case

For buyers who would like to present their hardware even when the housing is also in this case a side window in question. With a little technical skills, the necessary tool and a Plexiglas plate of matte-black interior of the Midgard comes within hours of application. An additional cold cathode light in their own color choice ensures adequate lighting in the evening and at night. The group of people, given the appropriate manual dexterity is not a side window can be attached, alternatively, on the edition Xigmatek Midgard Midi Tower - Black Window 70 € to resort to. Well imagine would be a slightly different paint. As a contrast to the well-processed black and white as could come into question. Thus, the aperture of the 5.25-inch bays, the grid of 120-mm LED fan in the front and the grid on the cover first sandblasted or sanded and spray painted in white. With a little practice and careful work this work wonders and the Xigmatek Midgard is real unique. It could also mean orange to match some elements of the interior.
