Do logitech g500 gaming mouse work in ubuntu 9.10?

Hey can anyone tell me whether i can be able to use logitech g500 gaming mouse work with ubuntu 9.10?? Can anyone please give me some solution on whether i can use logitech g500 mouse which is meant for gaming with ubuntu 9.10 or not... Please help me by posting some of the solutions here.... Any one having any idea about this can post his reply on this site...

Yes it will work as a mouse and its keys like left, right and ofcourse the wheel of the mouse will work...The paste option will work properly but the rest of the buttons are not surely to work out of the box. The extra buttons which are present on the logitech mouse does not work automatically on the Linux computers...But i am not sure that whether it will work on it or it will not work on it... So its better that you try this out as it is not going to affect you in any way...

I had got this for the Linux system. I used this machine with Wind-blows on it so that i can program macros system into each of the buttons and then configure the settings.. The macros system makes a button push do something that the keyboard would do ... Since the macros system are stored on the mouse itself, the special buttons which are present in the mouse can be used for key combinations to do what you want in Linux system.. Same used for gaming... Most of the games just report mouse button presses such as Button1, Button2, etc. That is why the unprogrammed buttons can then be set into your games or for specific games. You can try this as this worked for me in one game ...
