Alienware m15x Not Turning On

hey guys,

was using my m15x at school on battery power and it was working fine, battery was down to about one third so i put it in hibernate and put it away. when i got home and tried turning it on it wouldnt. i plugged in the charger and tried it and still nothing. i read one of the other posts where the user was having a similar problem and followed the steps but still not working. i took out the battery and plugged in the charger, the alienhead button lights up but if i press it the light goes away and the screen stays black but i can hear a slight whirring sound as if it is on, ive also tried removing the ram and putting it back in and still no luck.

any advice is appreciated

my specs are: windows 7 home premium 64bit, i7 820, 500gb hd, 4gb ram, 1gb nvidia geforce gtx 260m

Replace the battery of your system and then check out for the thing. I suppose the Battery of the system may not be working well and not functioning as needed. So checking out by replacing the battery will be helpful for you. As the thing is been done you may then get to a better solution and get to know the exact problem what it is. So get sort of the same and make it work well which will be helpful. Do function out for the thing that is essential.

battery works fine, charging and draining as normal, even without battery and only ac adaptor still not working

Try the below method to solve your issue:

1. First shut down the system
2. Then try removing the AC adapter connection and battery from the PC
3. After that hold down the AlienHead power button for 10 seconds
4. Now place the battery back into the system and plug in the AC Adapter
5. Lastly turn on the system and enter Windows. The battery should be recognized now and charging. If the battery is recognized but not charging, toggle FN+F2 until it shows that the battery charging is enabled. Verify this by checking the status bar that the battery is charging.

motherboard died, just replaced by dell, thanks for the ideas

Hey, I actually am having the same exact problem as you had. Was the motherboard under warranty with Dell? My laptop is about 2 years old now and not under warranty so I was just trying to figure out how much it might cost me to have it replaced.
