Dimension 8400: power flashing amber light

I have a Dell dimension 8400 desktop. One day I left it on power mode whole night, and found in the morning the power button is blinking. I tried to reboot it but it does not respond. There was no diagnostic light. Nothing happening, just the light is blinking in the power button, whenever I tried to start the system. Can’t understand why it is happened. Is for power supply or battery problem? Any idea.

Generally a light blinking in the power button is indicating the power filed in LED. You could try with the following to fix your issue.
    1.Unplug the power supply cord.
2.Hold the power button up to 10/15 second.
3.Then open the case, and remove the 24-pin power connector from the motherboard.
4.Jump the Green wire to the Black wires.
5.Reconnect the power cord and again power the system.
After that if the power supply fan and the hard drive works fine, then sure that the PSU should be ok.

I am also having same problem in my 6 year old Dell Dimension 8400. The problem is occurs only when I turn off my system overnight. It blows hot air into the power supply when I open the back side of the computer. It happens while the power off or disconnected. The top of the large gold and the capacitor on the motherboard are blowing slightly, it may for the leakage. Is there any solution?

Dear Kaarunya, I read the post that you are posted in the thread. I think the leakage problem in the motherboard are the very common problem in the Dell machines. Dell provides the replacement for those motherboards those are having capacitor leaking problem. So either you replace from the Dell or from the market.
